Sunflower Growing Competition 2022
Sunflowers have long been a symbol of Ukrainian national identity. This year, Friends Of Mill Stream will be holding a sunflower growing competition in support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Source your sunflower seeds as soon as you can, start them off at home and then between 6-7pm on Wednesday 24th May there will be the opportunity to plant your already growing sunflower plants in a specially prepared bed in Mill Stream Gardens between Mill Crescent and Cannon Lane. There is no limit on how many plants you can enter into the competition!
Please consider donating to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal via the Disaster Emergency Committee website. By doing so, you’ll help Disaster Emergency Committee charities provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families. There will also be a cash collection during the planting session.
Measuring will take place and the competition winner will be announced on Saturday 10th September.
